Phallus/acy | 2019 | The title of this work is a play on the words ‘phallus” and “fallacy”. It is a commentary on the role of women in the American Dream. The American Dream is usually seen as being fulfilled or carried out by the man of the house, but the way I see it, it is the women who fulfill the dream through the immense amount of emotional labor they provide in their family and husbands’ lives but goes largely unnoticed. This painting frames the female genitalia that holds together the literal universe, while the title conveys the falsity of the world being something that is exclusively run by men | Acrylic Paint on Postcard, Metal Rings | 35" x 25"
